WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?
Acupuncture is a therapeutic technique that involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points of the body This triggers a cascade of local and systematic biochemical and physical reactions, which address imbalances in the body and results in better self-regulation and thus, improved health.
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENT?
Acupuncture is typically and relatively painless, deeply relaxing experience when practiced by well-trained professional. The needles are single-use hair thin and stainless steel which should be almost imperceptible as they are inserted. As the needles are inserted, there is typically a sensation of dull pressure or mild achiness. Often, patients report feeling of tingling or warmth during the treatment.
It is not unusual for people to report a deep feeling of peace that stays with them for many hours or days after acupuncture treatment. Brain imaging studies show that this is due to at least in part to changes in blood flow in the brain brought about by acupuncture treatment. In time, many patients find that this feeling of peace becomes the foundation of their life rather than an occasional experience.
WHAT TO EXPECT?
If suitable for treatment, you will be offered up to 10 sessions of acupuncture, with a final appointment a month after completion of treatment to assess your response.
The treatment itself involves fine needles being inserted through the skin and left in position, sometimes briefly, sometimes for up to 30 minutes. The practitioner may twirl or move the needle to increase the effect. The number of needles varies but may be only two or three.
You must tell your acupuncture practitioner if you:
This may affect the treatment you receive but will not necessarily mean that you cannot be treated with acupuncture.
A significant body of research demonstrates that acupuncture is effective for many chronic health problems including musculoskeletal pain, low back pain and arthritis, migraine and headaches, and digestive and hormonal issues.

Facial Acupuncture is natural, non-surgical facial that more people are turning to as a viable ‘Natural Facelift’. It effectively lifts, plumps and smooths fine lines and is a natural alternative to invasive injections, fillers and chemical treatments. It involves placing tiny, painless acupuncture needles into various points on the face. Along with the points on the face, we'll also do body points to balance and boost skin from the inside out. These body points are customized to each person's needs and goals.
This type of treatment is thought to have originated from the period of 3000B.C. An excellent way to relievetension, it is thought to mobilise blood flow in order to improve the healing process. Suction cups are applied on skin, alleviating tension and assisting relaxation.
To intensify the healing process during our acupuncture treatments we also apply the techniques of yoga with knowledge about a specific problem. We use our bodywork experience and intuition to alleviate physical, mental, and spiritual issues.
